C3 is a project of the FTM Alliance and the Transgender Law Center.
Get Involved with the Community Clinics Campaign!! Better Transgender Care Now! In the summer of 2006, FTM Alliance of Los Angeles and the Transgender Law Center expanded our health care access programs to include working on transforming health care services offered at LA-based community clinics. In doing this work, we are emphasizing community organizing strategies. The work is funded primarily by the California Endowment, California Wellness Foundation, and Liberty Hill Foundation.
The Community Clinics Campaign will identify up to 5 clinics from around the county with whom we can work to increase their ability to provide health care to the transgender community. This would mean that the services would be available to people without insurance, people on Medi-Cal, and probably on a sliding scale basis to people whose insurance excludes transition related care.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WITH OTHER LOCAL TRANS GROUPS
Trans-Angels is a small group of transgender (MTF and FTM) and genderqueer persons who would be trained to be “chaplain volunteers” at the LA County central jail and twin tower facilities for incarcerated trans/genderqueer inmates. Right now, incarcerated trans/genderqueer inmates either don’t have access to chaplain support, or chaplain support is being provided by folks who are not trans/genderqueer themselves. Chaplain volunteers do not push religion. They sit with a prisoner who has asked to see a chaplain and listen with a loving heart and with compassion. They also help the prisoner connect with their own spirituality by sharing their own spiritual journeys. Becoming a chaplain volunteer is simple: two days of training by the professional chaplains at these facilities, and a half-day of training by sheriff personnel.
If this need has touched your heart and you want to be a spiritual resource for folks from our communities who are in jail, please contact Michelle Dennis at michel3063@aol.com or 310-428-1354.
The City of West Hollywood is seeking increased Community participation with the City's Transgender Task Force. The mission of the Task Force is to advise the West Hollywood City Council on issues of importance to the Transgender Community. Those who are interested in participating are invited to attend the public meetings of the Task Force. Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7 PM at West Hollywood City Hall, located at 8300 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood. For more information, please contact: Richard Ryan in the West Hollywood Public Safety Department at 323.848.6470 rryan@weho.org.
OCFTM is looking for help to archive web sites and Internet articles of interest to the transgender community. With so much of our community information passing back and forth electronically, if there were to be a major Internet disaster or massive power outage, all info could be lost or inaccessible. OCFTM is seeking a
dedicated individual or two to help explore and create hardcopy files of important transgender info, web pages, resources, and community groups from the net. This will also create important archival material of historical interest in our ever changing world. There is no funding for this work and it would be voluntary.
